Bernie Sanders Insults Israel, Jews and Backs ‘Palestinian Rights’

The American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) hold an annual conference in Washington D.C. centered around Israeli affairs. Sanders made a chilling and bold statement when he said he refused to attend the annual AIPAC conference because it provided a platform to leaders who “express bigotry and oppose Palestinian rights.”

In just that short sentence we can deduce so much about Bernie Sanders. First, it’s no wonder that anti-Semitic leaders such as Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez support Sanders. Second, to refuse to attend an event that is positive and supports the existence of Israel shows his disdain for the country and absolute bias towards assisting the Palestinian movement. Such beliefs infer he would never attempt such a lucrative Middle East Peace Plan such as President Trump has because he has no affection nor consideration for Israel’s wellbeing.

Also, since when did supporting one side of any issue automatically mean one does not wish the other side well. Sanders has actively chosen to stand with Palestinians against Israel and the Jews. Finally, Sanders’ words show his absolute lack of knowledge about AIPAC and the state of affairs President Trump has relentlessly been working towards in the Middle East.

AIPAC responded to Sanders appropriately calling him out: Sanders “has never attended our conference and that is evident from his outrageous comment” the pro-Israel group said on Twitter. The statement continued:

In fact, many of his own Senate and House Democratic colleagues and leaders speak from our platform to the over 18,000 Americans from widely diverse backgrounds – Democrats, Republicans, Jews, Christians, African Americans, Hispanic Americans, progressives, Veterans, students, members of the LGBTQ+ community – who participate in the conference to proclaim their support for the U.S.- Israel relationship.

AIPAC ended the statement with the most accurate and telling statement: “by engaging in such an odious attack on this mainstream, bipartisan American political event, Senator Sanders is insulting his very own colleagues and the millions of Americans who stand with Israel” and that, AIPAC says, it “truly shameful.”
